How different society/culture use their media

Living in a society where there are numerous cultures and social groups certainly gives colour to the world. Media is used by everybody, whether they like it or not. There are a lot and different kinds of media forms. For example, the digital media such as mobile phones, computers, calculator and more.

Due to the technology evolving to something more advance. Although these technologies have change, the society may or may not change. Since the newer technologies allow users to interact and communicate with each other anywhere in the world, they tend to get used staring at a screen for hours without feeling bored about it. These however to me have their pros and cons. Teenagers today always wants the latest gadgets hence keeping up with their peers. As the media portray the importance of having one is a blessing. However the downside to this is that since everybody has their phones, laptop and whatever, the interaction between the person next to them is hardly seen. They could just text message their thoughts, lacking of verbal interaction.

Another group of society is the workers and employees which also use various kinds of digital media or non-digital media. Occupations like animators or clerks or even security guard use the technologies during work but also acquire the verbal communication. In some job, a lot of physical gestures used to tell people something. Getting to know each other just by gathering during a break and sharing their thoughts and experience helps bond session.

Some of the Japanese animated movie from Studio Ghibli by Hayao Miyazaki.
Back to the teenagers, Japan is one of the fastest spreading culture throughout the rest of the world with their animated series, funky costume called Harajuku style, and their distinct lifestyle. In my opinion, Anime or Japanese animated is one of the thing that triggers these culture to set around the globe. It is considered one of the most powerful conveyer to the Japanese.

The social groups on the internet deal with their inner most feeling and tell the world about how they feel. Not necessarily require and identification or who the person is, gives the internet the freedom of the world. Their interactions however does not differ to the real world but the experience is definitely is. Social sites such as Facebook allow users to advertise, chat messaging and even play games. The users can get to know each other and share information and their interests along with a million other users.

Media Use

In my opinion media is basically a way to convey or to deliver message to the society. It can be in any form as long as there is a connection in between, and that connection is the media.
Media is everywhere whether or not people aware that it is used every second and every minute of their life just like as simple as a gesture or a speech or even being silent can gives out a certain message.

The main purpose of media is to send information. Some can be as straight forward as news broadcasts or can be vague in a way which the society can enjoy which is in the form of art. A lot of people tend to make mistake as saying that art it is just colours and pictures on canvas, or just simply a music composed by an artist. Partially it is true but deeply they are the artist’s expression, putting their emotions visually so the others can feel them as well.

Today, almost everybody can gain access to the World Wide Web, the internet. The internet is rich with information. You can find various information with a push of a button from news to entertainment to tutorials and education. The people are the messenger, it does not limit of what they can present to the society. However that freedom can bring positive effects and negative effects as well. For example, staying on the internet longer than you should have their pros and cons, like connecting with other people or gain experience doing relevant things, depends on what the topic is. The bad thing is that they have difficulties when it comes to socializing or communicating in the real world because the ‘feel’ of communicating virtually and in reality is different.

Modern technologies have developed over the century to help people carry messages from one place to another. Like in the stone-age, most common media used are such as smokes, drums, and cave painting. Later in the medieval era they develop the printed media much like stained glass and scripts. Stained glass are colourful and are usually found in churches. They tell stories in which the society today sees as art, scientist conducted studies based on the stained glass, uncovering the untold stories of the past. This is one of the examples on media that they are used to communicate, tell stories or even become a piece of art. It is also depends on the culture as well because different cultures from different region have different perspective upon something that they see, hear, and experience.
